Japan appreciates hearing about your complaint. It will be accessible to the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). They will use the information to spot new trends, uncover new scams, and target suspect companies and individuals for law enforcement actions. It may help to ensure that others are not victimized in the way that you have been. Because the Internet marketplace is borderless, sharing your complaint with government agencies in different countries has never been more important to help us in our worldwide fight to keep the Internet safe for you. Submitting a complaint to
this system WILL NOT trigger an obligation for us to investigate your
complaint on your behalf. JFTC has the law enforcement authority over consumer protection issue regarding the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations (The Premiums and Representations Act), the complementary law of the Antimonopoly Act. The Premiums and Representations Act mainly prohibits the misleading representations by company: The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has the law enforcement authority over consumer protection issues regarding the Specified Commercial Transaction Law. The Law regulates door-to-door sales, mail order sales, telephone-solicited sales, “continuous services” business, chain sales transactions and “work-at-home transactions”.
