1) National Consumer Service is a Governmental Agency that is part of Chile’s Ministry of Economy. It has 3 main functions determined by law: to inform, protect and educate consumers. 

In order to inform, we carry out periodic studies on different markets that we communicate to consumers mainly by press conferences, our website and magazine. To protect, we are forced by law to present legal actions to defend consumers whose rights have been surpassed. To educate we periodically publish different material on our website and magazine, plus we carry out television campaigns focused on young people.

3) Consumers have several ways to report their complaints. First of all, they can personally attend to our offices located in most mayor cities throughout Chile. In order to expand our presence in the country, we have signed several agreements with more than 90% of City Councils existing in Chile by which the City Hall finances a consumer protection office and SERNAC trains its staff. 

Another way of submitting complaints is through our website, www.sernac.cl. We also have a call center, yet it only answers consumer’s questions. Soon we will be able to receive complaints through it.
